Plain Language Summary
Speech-to-Text.co offers limited free use and optional paid plans. Use the service lawfully, upload only content you are authorized to process, and review automated results before relying on them. Your recordings and transcripts remain yours.
What We Provide
Speech-to-Text.co converts supported audio and video files into editable text using automated speech recognition. Anonymous use, free accounts, and paid plans have different limits. Available features include:
- Audio and video file transcription with automatic language detection
- AI-powered text summarization
- AI-powered text translation
- Voice recording directly in your browser
- Multiple export formats (TXT, PDF, Word, SRT, VTT, JSON)
Acceptable Use
You may use this service for any lawful purpose, including:
- Transcribing meetings, interviews, and lectures
- Creating captions and subtitles for videos
- Converting voice memos and recordings to text
- Business documentation and note-taking
- Academic research and study
- Content creation and podcasting
You May NOT Use This Service For:
- Transcribing audio you don't have rights to use
- Processing content that violates any law
- Attempting to overload or disrupt the service
- Automated bulk processing without permission
- Any activity that could harm the service or other users
Accuracy & Limitations
We want to be upfront about what to expect:
- Accuracy varies by language, recording quality, background noise, overlapping speech, accents, and specialist vocabulary
- Background noise, accents, and overlapping speakers reduce accuracy
- Technical terms, names, and jargon may be transcribed phonetically
- AI summarization and translation may not perfectly capture nuance
Always review transcripts before using them for important purposes. For legal depositions, medical records, or official documentation, human verification is essential.
Your Content & Rights
- Your audio files remain yours. We don't claim any rights to your recordings.
- Your transcripts belong to you. Use them however you want.
- You are responsible for having the right to transcribe the audio you upload.
- We don't review what you upload. That's between you and the law.
Service Availability
The service is provided "as is." We do our best, but we cannot guarantee:
- 100% uptime or availability
- Error-free transcription
- That current plans, allowances, or features will remain unchanged
- Any specific level of performance
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. If we make major changes, we'll try to give notice, but no promises.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this service. This includes (but is not limited to) lost data, transcription errors, missed deadlines from service outages, or any decisions made based on transcribed content. Use professional judgment and verify important transcripts.
